The South Florida Media Network showcases the work of students at Florida International University’s Department of Journalism + Media. Stories come from class assignments and from:
- Our new New York City news bureau.
- Our new Washington, D.C., news bureau.
- The arts and culture magazine Inspicio.
- Our Miami bureau, formerly known as the South Florida News Service, which last year won the prestigious Hearst Award for breaking news.
The Network supports the Department of Journalism + Media’s goal to help students master multimedia journalism and storytelling skills through innovative collaborations with faculty and professional partners. The aim is to produce exceptional multiplatform journalists and media professionals, and future thought leaders and entrepreneurs, who will advance innovation in journalism, media and communication education and industry.
The South Florida Media Network also offers links to student work published in PantherNow and broadcast on The Roar radio station (WRGP). These sites are operated by the university’s Student Media organization independently of the university’s Journalism + Media Department.
